If you’ve been to a Virgin Sport event before, you’ll know that we’re all about having a good time — challenged wrapped in fun. We‘re all about bringing back the days where humans ran free and exercised their right to move their body and to have fun.
We believe in play — it invites creativity, collaboration and thinking outside of the box. In a world where structure, schedules, and digital distractions have come to dominate our attention and lives, we’re more motivated than ever to get people out, moving, connected to each other and laughing.
For our first ever US based event, Virgin Sport San Francisco, we’re pleased to partner with Playworks. When you purchase a ticket for the SF Bay Half marathon or Twin Peaks Mile race (or both), you can choose to support play and donate to Playworks!
Playworks San Francisco is increasing physical activity by leveraging the power of safe, fun, and healthy play at school every day. In the 2016–2017 school year, Playworks San Francisco ensured 50,000 kids in our community experienced safe and healthy play every day. Your donation will help Playworks reach more kids than ever.
Playworks is the leading national nonprofit leveraging the power of play to transform children’s social and emotional health. In the 2016–17 school year, Playworks will reach 900,000 students at 1,800 schools in 23 U.S. cities directly and through professional training services. They are changing school culture by leveraging the power of safe, fun, and healthy play at school every day. They create a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills. Their vision is for 3.5 million kids in 7,000 elementary schools nationwide to experience safe and healthy play every day by 2020.
We love Playworks because they believe in the power of play — and the importance of instilling this into children who need it most!
When was the last time you went outside or simply let your imagination loose in the world? We suggest going for a run with friends, climbing trees, building forts and more…
