What an incredible day out at the British 10k yesterday!
On 9 July 2017, we had over 10,000 participants and spectators take over Westminster and bring a British Street Party atmosphere to central London’s famous landmarks: from Piccadilly to Whitehall through Regent Street, Trafalgar Square, the Embankment, Westminster Bridge and Westminster Abbey.
It was a hot day, but we had fast finishers and four misting stations with lots of water to keep everyone hydrated. Gemma Steel won 1st place for the female category, followed by Hannah Walker and Rachel Felton. In the male category, the winner was Scott Overall in 1st place, followed by Tim Mower in 2nd and John Sanderson in 3rd place.
But in addition to the fast times, we’re about the good times — so naturally, it was an amazing end to see pacers Carl-Warren Dudley and Katie Andrews strut in with our final finisher, the 85 year old Gillian!
Check out the full results here — well done to everyone!
A big thank you to the Westminster Council, ASICS Ambassador and Olympian Rosa Mota for helping us kick off the race, Faisal Abdalla, Olga Stignii, Ana Sousa and Virgin Active for leading warm ups, cool downs and free fitness in Trafalgar Square.
Cheers to all of our musicians and DJs: Andy Lewis, Not the Rolling Stones, The Vox Beatles, Military Brass Band, The Vixens, Itchy Feet DJs, Raf Cadets, Funster, Sax for Fun, North London Brass, South London Samba, and Drumworks.
We’re so happy to have had our partners present with us on the day -of course, ASICS, for the lovely shirts and everything else, YourPhysioPlan for providing pre-race taping and post-race massages, Lucozade for providing recovery product at the finish line, and Gett for providing our lead car — a London black cab.
We also cannot thank enough our lovely dream team of pacers and people present from London’s finest running crews: Rune Revsbaek (Run Dem Crew), Mark Parry (Run Dem Crew), Paul Addicott (Epsom Tri Club), Delase Gazo (Run Dem Crew), Al Bryant-Smith (November Project LDN), Olga Stignii (Midnight Runners), Wilson Lou (LDN Brunch Club), Polly Warrack (LDN Brunch Club), Carlos Esteves (Midnight Runners), Nicolas Berger (Serpentine Running Club), Patrick Ugeux (Serpentine Running Club), Ilona Kriauzaite (Serpentine Running Club), Daniel Varga (Midnight Runners), Nuno Matos (Midnight Runners), Ana Sousa (Midnight Runners), Goncalo Morais (Midnight Runners), Debora Batista (Midnight Runners), Sha Hussain (Run Dem Crew), Joe Batten (November Project LDN), Kemi Mafe (Run Dem Crew), Dora Atim (Run Dem Crew), Steve Bergantino (November Project LDN), Louise Johnston (BackPackers CLC), Faisal Abdalla (on behalf of BackPackers CLC), Phoebe Cotter (BackPackers CLC), Emma Turner (BackPackers CLC), Carl Dudley (BackPackers CLC) and Katie Andrews (BackPackers CLC). Chevy Rough Founder of Chasing Lights Collective, Shameek Farrell Founder of Coats & Goalposts and more.
We missed you Be Manzini, Ellie-May Brooks and Michael Moreni — wishing you all speedy recoveries! And so lovely to have Captain Leeanne Adu cheering, although she would have loved to have been out there leading from the back with her wonderful BackPackers CLC.
A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who cheered, handed out water, gave directions and helped make the race day experience as smooth as possible.

Thanks to all of the spectators, supporters and fans: together, we shut down Westminster, closed the streets and turned it into a British Street Party, a day where the normal hustle and bustle of London was transformed into a moving party of thousands of people running, cheering, laughing and moving.
In a world where everyone is so busy or tied to their routine —it’s a welcome break to take some time off to enjoy our surroundings and the people around us. Here’s to many days of celebrating and moving with others through sport!
